Competition trunk: ready!

Published on 14 October 2023 at 16:04

One of the most funny moment for me is preparing all the competition material !

As always I like to have everything well organized, so I prepare a basic list from which to start and then modify it, depending on various factors, such as :

Weather conditions
Number of horses to ride
Number of competitions to ride
Tack Box available
Tack Box not available
Permanent stable
Temporary stable

Starting from these points, the important thing then, is to choose all the necessary material for our horses, have everything clean and positioned in a  strategically  way for not loosing time!

Yes, because organizing a horse trunk for a show is essential to ensure that you have everything you need and can quickly access items during the event.

So here a brief memo that can might be useful when you prepare all :

  • Clean and Inspect the Trunk: Before you start packing, make sure your trunk is clean and free of any debris or smells.
  • Grooming Supplies: Pack your grooming supplies in a separate section of the trunk. Include items such as brushes, combs, hoof picks, sponges, mane/tail conditioner, and grooming spray
  • Tack: Organize your tack neatly, placing it in protective bags or wraps to prevent scratches. Include saddles, bridles, bits, girths, stirrup leathers, and any other tack you'll use during the show.
  • Horse Apparel: If your horse wears blankets, sheets, or fly masks, pack them separately in another  trunk or in a bag .
  • Feed and Water Buckets: if you dont have permanent stable remember to take them!
  • Personal Items: Don't forget to pack  any necessary paperwork or entry forms.
  • Load Strategically: Load the heaviest and bulkier items at the bottom of the trunk to provide a stable base. Place frequently used items on top for easy access.
  • Keep It Secure: Make sure everything inside the trunk is well-secured and won't shift during transportation. Consider using bungee cords or straps to keep items in place.
  • Check Regulations:  ensure everything you pack complies with the rules.
  • Practice Packing: If possible, practice packing the trunk before the show to ensure that everything fits comfortably and you haven't forgotten anything essential.

Here we are! All ready to be loaded and off to the next adventure!!!

Are you ready to leave with me?
